Gas Line Repair

Signs of a gas line problem include a rotten-egg smell, a hissing sound near an appliance or the meter, dead patches in the yard along a buried line, or an appliance that won't stay lit. We locate the leak with detection equipment, isolate that section, repair or replace it, and pressure-test the whole system. If your line has been repaired more than once, we'll talk about replacing it rather than chasing leaks.

How We Do It

Every gas job starts with sizing. The line diameter and length have to deliver the BTUs your appliances need at the same time; an undersized line means a range that flares yellow or a tankless heater that goes lukewarm. We pull the permit, run the line with proper supports and protection, install a shut-off at each appliance and a sediment trap where required, then pressure-test the system with air to well above operating pressure and hold it. The city inspector signs off. Only then does gas flow. We'll also check that your appliances are connected with the right flex connectors, not old or undersized ones.

Questions We Get Asked

Do you need a permit to run a gas line?

Yes, in Phoenix and every Valley city. We pull it and schedule the inspection as part of the job.

Can you add a gas line for a range if I only have electric?

If there's gas service to the house, usually yes. We'll check the meter capacity and run a new branch to the kitchen.

How far can you run a line for a fire pit?

Far enough for most yards. Length affects pipe size, so we size it for the distance and the BTU rating of the appliance.

What's the difference between black iron and CSST?

Black iron is rigid threaded steel pipe, the traditional choice. CSST is flexible stainless tubing that runs faster through tight spaces and must be properly bonded. We use both, where each fits.

Is it an emergency if I smell gas?

Yes. Get out, call the utility from outside, then call us.
