Phoenix water is very hard, and it shows: spotted glasses, crusted faucets, water heaters that die young. We test your water for free, then install the softener, reverse osmosis or whole-home filtration that fits the results.

Hard Water in Phoenix
The water that reaches Phoenix homes carries a heavy load of dissolved calcium and magnesium; by the water industry's scale, most of the metro sits well into the "very hard" range. That's what leaves white scale on shower doors, clogs aerators, coats the inside of your water heater, and makes soap feel like it never rinses off. It's not a health problem. It's a maintenance and comfort problem, and it's the single most common reason appliances in this city wear out early.
We're plumbers, not salespeople for one brand of softener. We test your water, look at your plumbing, and tell you what would help and what wouldn't.
Free Water Test
We test for hardness, chlorine, total dissolved solids and pH at your kitchen tap, and we explain the numbers in plain English. If a softener would help, we'll size it to your household. If your issue is taste or odor rather than scale, that points to filtration or RO instead. If your water is fine, we'll say so.
Water Softener Installation
A softener swaps the calcium and magnesium for sodium or potassium through a resin tank, and regenerates itself on a schedule. We install softeners from the major manufacturers, sized correctly for your hardness and usage so the unit isn't regenerating every night. Installation includes the loop, a bypass valve so you can service the unit without shutting off the house, a drain line for regeneration, and a hard-water tap outside for irrigation if you want one.
If your house already has a softener loop stubbed out in the garage (many newer Valley homes do), installation is quick. If it doesn't, we'll run one.
Reverse Osmosis
A softener handles scale; it doesn't make water taste better. A reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink strips dissolved solids, chlorine and most contaminants from the water you actually drink and cook with, and feeds a dedicated faucet and, if you like, the refrigerator ice maker. We install RO systems with a proper drain connection and an air gap, and we'll show you how to change the filters.
Whole-Home Filtration
For chlorine taste and smell throughout the house, or for homes on well water, a whole-home carbon or multi-stage filter goes in at the main line ahead of the softener. Pairing filtration with softening covers both problems: no scale, no chlorine, at every tap.
Softener Loops, Drain Lines and Repairs
We also install softener loops for homes that don't have one, run and repair drain lines for existing units, replace bypass valves, and service systems that have stopped regenerating. If your softener is using a lot of salt and the water still feels hard, it's usually a resin or valve issue and worth a look before you replace it.
Questions We Get Asked
Is a softener worth it in Phoenix?
For most households, yes. The cost is usually recovered in longer appliance life, less cleaning and less soap. The free water test will tell you how hard your water actually is.
Will softened water taste salty?
No. The amount of sodium added is small. If you're on a restricted diet, we can use potassium instead, or add an RO system for drinking water.
Do softeners waste water?
They use some water during regeneration. A correctly sized, demand-initiated unit keeps that to a minimum.
Can I get a softener and RO at the same time?
Yes, and it's the most common setup we install. Softener for the house, RO at the kitchen sink.
Do you service systems you didn't install?
Yes. We work on all major brands.
